About Thursdaynboots
At Thursdaynboots, we’ve always believed outdoor gear shouldn’t ask you to compromise—not on style, not on performance, and certainly not on purpose. For years, the outdoor industry forced a choice: clunky, utilitarian pieces that worked in the wild but felt out of place in the city; sleek, trendy items that looked good but fell apart on the trail; or eco-focused options that prioritized ethics over function. We founded Thursdaynboots to end that trade-off, crafting boots, clothing, and outerwear that blend iconic style, rugged outdoor performance, and meaningful eco-conscious innovation—gear that works as hard on city sidewalks as it does on mountain trails, and treats the planet with the respect it deserves.
Our journey began with a single pair of boots. We set out to create a design that would stand the test of time: a classic silhouette that wouldn’t feel dated next to your favorite jeans, but with the durability to handle mud, rocks, and rain. We sourced slip-resistant rubber soles engineered for traction on wet trails, breathable waterproof membranes to keep feet dry during unexpected downpours, and then we went further—ditching the toxic chemical adhesives common in footwear for plant-based alternatives, and using recycled leather (reclaimed from factory scraps) and organic cotton for the uppers. Every stitch was intentional, because we knew great outdoor gear shouldn’t just perform well—it should do good, too.
That ethos soon spread to every piece we make. Our outdoor jackets? They’re lined with insulation made from recycled plastic bottles (each jacket keeps 15+ bottles out of landfills) and finished with water-repellent coatings that are free of harmful perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs). Our hiking pants? We use hemp-blend fabrics that require 50% less water to grow than cotton, and dye them with natural, plant-based pigments that won’t leach into rivers. Even the small details matter: our boot laces are made from recycled polyester, our clothing tags are printed on seed paper (plant them, and they grow into wildflowers), and our packaging is 100% compostable. We don’t just talk about sustainability—we build it into every step of the process.
We know outdoor lovers aren’t a monolith. Some of you hike every weekend and need gear that can handle steep inclines and unpredictable weather; others use your boots for commuting, grabbing coffee, or running errands, and want something that looks as good as it feels; still more of you choose brands based on their environmental impact, wanting to know your purchase is part of the solution. That’s why we don’t design for “one type” of adventurer. Our best-selling Explorer Boot has a timeless chukka style that pairs with everything from flannels to dresses, but it also has a steel shank for arch support and a toe cap for protection on rocky terrain. Our Cloud Jacket is lightweight enough to pack in a backpack for day hikes, but its tailored fit means you can wear it to the office without feeling like you’re in “hiking gear.” We want your Thursdaynboots pieces to be the ones you reach for, no matter where the day takes you.
Thursdaynboots.com is more than a store—it’s a community of people who believe the outdoors are for everyone, and that we all have a role to play in protecting them. We share stories from customers who’ve hiked the Appalachian Trail in our boots, volunteered for trail cleanups in our jackets, or repurposed our packaging into garden planters. We host virtual workshops on gear care (how to extend the life of your boots, how to repair a torn jacket) because keeping gear out of landfills is one of the most sustainable choices we can make. And we’re always learning: we partner with environmental organizations like 1% for the Planet (donating 1% of all sales to conservation efforts) and regularly survey our customers to find out what sustainability initiatives matter most to them.
We’re not perfect. There are still materials we’re working to replace with more eco-friendly alternatives, and still ways we can reduce our carbon footprint. But we’re committed to progress, not perfection. If you have questions about our materials, feedback on our gear, or a story to share about your adventures, we want to hear from you. Email us at [email protected]—every message helps us get better.
At the end of the day, we don’t just sell boots, clothing, and outerwear. We sell the freedom to explore—whether that’s a mountain trail, a city street, or a new way of living more sustainably. We believe gear should adapt to your life, not the other way around. And we’re honored to be part of your journey, every step of the way.
